Increased Precautions We're Taking in Response to COVID-19

LAST UPDATED ON 12/17/2020

As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at Valley Behavioral Health System to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at Valley Behavioral Health System.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Options for telehealth visitation are continuously evaluated so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

  • All staff has received infection prevention and control training.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided.
  • Patient care supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer are being monitored and utilized.
  • Temperature and symptom screening protocols are in place for all patients and staff.
  • Social distancing strategies have been implemented to ensure that patients and staff maintain proper distance from one another at all times.

  • We are in communication with our local health department to receive important community-specific updates.

The safety of our patients, their families, and our employees is our top priority, and we will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with COVID-19.

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips that can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then immediately dispose of the tissue.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are frequently touched.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.

Premier Behavioral Health Center & Program for Partial Hospitalization Treatment for Adults in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Valley Behavioral Health helps individuals struggling with mental health and behavioral health disorders meet and exceed their treatment goals while building a strong foundation for long-term healing and recovery through a variety of programming options.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program

At Valley Behavioral Health System, we are pleased to offer many levels of care to meet the needs of our patients. Therefore, when you come to our treatment center in Barling, Arkansas, you can be sure that you will have the resources you need to become well again.

In addition to our quality inpatient care, we proudly offer an adult partial hospitalization program (PHP) for men and women ages 18 and older. This rehab program can be accessed following the completion of our inpatient services, or it can be where you start your healing journey.

Our adult PHP is designed to be less restrictive than inpatient care as it allows you to return home in the evenings. If you require support to manage the symptoms of the following disorders, our adult PHP may be the right program for you:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Major depressive disorder
  • Schizophrenia

Features of Our Partial Hospitalization Program

Our adult partial hospitalization program is offered five hours a day, five days a week. Our staff will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that meets your needs and includes a blend of the following therapeutic services:

Group therapy

Group therapy is the main method of care used in our adult PHP. You may partake in process groups, psychoeducational groups, and skill-building groups, to name a few. We provide this type of therapy so that you can benefit from the support and encouragement of your peers in a safe setting.

Individual therapy

Individual therapy allows you to work one-on-one with a member of our staff so that you can discuss your feelings and emotions in a confidential atmosphere. Additionally, during individual therapy sessions, you can set personal goals that can help you achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Depending on your needs, these sessions can be included in your treatment plan on an as-needed basis.

Family therapy

Our adult PHP features family therapy sessions when needed. While in these sessions, a member of our staff will work with you and your loved ones to help you all gain a better understanding of your mental illness. These sessions can also assist your loved ones in learning the best ways to support you while you are in treatment.

Medication management services

If medication is necessary to help you manage symptoms of a mental illness, you can meet with a psychiatrist for medication management services each week. Additionally, while you are in our adult PHP, you will be able to meet with a psychiatric nurse each day to make sure that you are responding well to your medication regimen.

The services available within our rehab program incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). These evidence-based treatment modalities can help you learn how to make the changes needed to manage the symptoms of mental illness.
